How to care for your Magnets
It is important to know that Magnetic sheeting can only be so strong. We recommend removing them before heading onto the motorway. For best care please follow our guidelines below, otherwise just ask! :)
Q.Do vehicle need special preparation before apply Magnets
A. Both the vehicle surface and the Magnetic side of the sign should be cleaned, dry and lightly waxed prior to application. Pay particular attention to edges of the sign, particularly the leafing edge, even a slight lump, bump or bit of dirt underneath could allow wind to get in under, increasing the risk of the magnet falling off. Q.Where and how is the best way to apply magnetic signs. A. When applying signs, it is always best to start with one side first, then allow it naturally to fall into position, peeling it back off and trying again if needed.
At all times take into consideration the aerodynamics of the vehicle - avoid bonnets at all costs as there is too much turbulence due to the angle. Make sure that the entire surface of the sign is smoothly against the vehicle with no air pockets, wrinkles or bumps which might get caught by the wind, especially under the leading edge.
Avoid applying to a frozen or frosty surface. Q. Do any surfaces present problems? A. Care should be taken with wood grain panelling and metallic Finishes. Such surfaces should be checked often and the first 90 days of use and thereafter. A generous waxing of both surface, both the back of the sign and where it will be placed will help to prevent any damage. Re-painted vehicle surface and those of new cars should be avoided for a minimum of three months and must be hand wax polished before the sign is to be fitted to the surface. Remove frequently to allow natural ultra violet light of the Sun to evenly bleach the vehicle panels. Signs should ideally be positioned on the back or sides of vehicles and not on the front where air turbulence can present problems. Do not position over engine compartments as these naturally give off heat which may damage the sign and consequently the vehicle. Q.What sign maintenance is recommenced? A. Remove the magnetic sign at least once a week and wipe dry bot the magnetic side and the surface of the vehicle. This will keep the moisture from collecting which can potentially damage a vehicles surface. Simply wash it with warm water and mild detergent. Avoid cleaning fluids, petrol, acetone, benzine and chlorinated solvents. Remove road film and any dirt before applying or re-applying the sign to the vehicle. Make sure that the sign is removed after rain, sleet or snow and wiped dry. Q.What special precautions must be taken in storing the signs. A. Avoid wrinkling by storing in a loose, role fashion or on a flat surface. Always store in a dry, clean environment. Don't put heavy objects on it or leaning up against it while in storage. During cold weather allow the sign too uncurl in a warm atmosphere before use. THERE IS NO WARRANTY EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED AGAINST LOSS OF SIGN OR DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE SURFACES, AS THE SUPPLIER HAS NO CONTROL OVER HOW THE SIGNS ARE CARED FOR, ALTERED, STORED AND/OR USED, OR THE SURFACE TO WHICH THE SIGNS ARE APPLIED.
